While summer in Paris might have a different meaning for everyone, for our 24 teams it rhymed with innovation, digital health, mentoring, and networking as the INNOLABS 2nd Ideas Contest took place on 21-22 June 2018.
After a careful pre-selection, 24 European startups travelled to Paris not only in hope of securing prize money but to benefit from the added value of INNOLABS: personalized expert mentoring in key fields, pitch training, and sustainable networking.
On 21 June, the teams gathered in Cap Digital’s premises for a day filled with expert keynotes and one-on-one coaching sessions. The area of expertise of the mentors ranged from regulatory affairs to intellectual property protection and business strategy and investment. Not only did the teams get a feedback about their ideas from the experts but they had time for some quality networking sessions and could prepare their pitches for the next day.
The following day, the pitch competition took place in parallel to Futur.e.s in Paris festival, the biggest free and open to all festival in digital innovation. The 24 teams went through a first round of pitching and question & answers from the jury. After this first round, 6 teams were selected to go through a second round of pitching allowing the jury members: to go deeper into their questions and reasoning, following which the three winning teams were announced: ThinkSono Ltd was awarded with the first prize of 17 500€, Advantis came in second and won 12 500€, and CreatSens was in third place and won 6 000€.
These two days received very good and constructive feedback; while all of the teams agreed that the mentoring and coaching sessions gave real added value to this event, both teams and mentors wished it could have been longer than 20 minutes. Nonetheless, all teams travelled home with new European connections, valuable knowledge from experts and inspired by their fellow teams.
